Lower Back X-Ray

Hey,

Doctor Ryan Alter another X ray for us to look at today. This is a side view of the lower back.  And what we’re looking at here, you can see the vertebrae,

you can see the disc spaces. But when you get down here  to the L5, S1 disc, basically the bottom of the spine where all the pressure gravity is just crushing

you can see this disc is almost gone.

Look at the space above it compared to this severe degenerative disc disease at L5.  And we know that a nerve comes out between those vertebrae. And as it crushes down like that,

The nerve is in jeopardy of really getting crushed,

winding up having problems down into the legs,

problems wherever that nerve leads.

So what do we do about this?  Well now we’re going to take that patient,

we’re going to do some chiropractic. We’re probably going to use spinal decompression at this point. But more importantly, how do you not wind up like that? Well chiropractic maintenance when you’re younger.  Taking care of this joint.

Why don’t all the discs look bad like that? If this was just kind of an age thing,

wouldn’t they all look like that? Well, because it’s not an age thing. There’s an injury that happened here at one point,

and it wasn’t addressed,

and this area wasn’t put back together the way it was supposed to,

so it wore out a thousand times faster than the rest of the spine.

 Remember,

we’re here in Delray Beach. Any spine related anything

back pain,

neck pain,

headaches,

we are here as a resource

and we want to make sure that you

and everyone you know are feeling your best.
